Lance Whear is a songwriter crafting songs that, like the waxing and waning of the moon over a battlefield, reveal real human moments of valor, sadness, tenderness and violence. XYRE as a live band is an organic entity building upon the foundation of Lance and features a rotating roster of talented like-minded people including Violinists, Soundscape Artists, Darabuka and Didgeridoo players. XYRE have featured in songwriter showcases, independent television and community radio, and played shows with Jeff Martin from the Tea Party.

Complete version

XYRE in itself is a concept... a mystical derivation of personal desires and our inner most feelings within. It's an expression of the elemental construct of what makes us who we are. We all long to connect with others in one way or another, it's human nature to want to belong to something or someone.

This is the substance of what Lance Whear indulged in for almost a decade, writing songs about his journey through life and how he sees the world from many different angles, which at times, things can get pretty dark. Then, by the same token, life opens up and joy is expressed as a nice change.

To get the music out of his mind, heart and soul into the world has been Lance's main focus for a number of years now, concentrating more on the recording aspects of music over previous years. Now during the more recent years looking at his live performance craft of his own development. Like a dam building up for a long long time now with cracks in the walls, they break open to reveal his first album... 'The Moon And The Illicitly Spoken'.

Lance has been featured in songwriter showcases, independent television and community radio, although his best gig to date, with the help of some influential people was an invitation to play part in a show in his local town with his musical hero, Jeff Martin from the international band The Tea Party, The Armada and now 777. Described as one of the best nights of his life, this milestone has enabled Lance a little more freedom in his pursuits to think a little more about how to develop his act and what his real artistic ambitions are and to make them realised also.

As this new excitement builds we find ourselves in the midst of the formation of a new band, over coming months which promises will show music lovers what XYRE has to offer. From Lance himself and also from his chosen friends performing alongside on stage.
